A Rack 8+1) The first module available for the A-RACK 8+1 is the
MA-1.5 True Class A Microphone Amplifier. All circuitry is real
Class A discrete transistor using the Buzz Audio BE40 module. There
are no transformers in the signal path, high quality film coupling
capacitors are used for DC isolation. The circuitry is very similar
to the MA-2.2 with the addition of the Solo feature and a Direct
Drive Balanced Output circuit (the DDBO). There are two main advantages
to the DDBO over conventional "transformer acting" electronic balanced
outputs. The first is near perfect common mode performance on balanced
lines ensuring accurate audio signal transmission over long cables
as may be found in remote live recording situations. The second

The VT-7 audio path is entirely Class-A triode vacuum tubes, utilizing
circuitry similar to that used in the VT-2 Mic Preamp and VT-4 Equalizer.
Gain reduction is accomplished using a pulse width modulator, with
solid-state control circuitry. The unit has two independent channels,
which may be linked together for stereo. Inputs are line-level,
balanced bridging, and the outputs are line-level, transformer-balanced.
Maximum gain reduction is 25dB. The VT-7 has controls for Threshold,
Attack, Release, Gain, and a control that affects many parameters
and is labelled "Harder" at one extreme and "Softer" at the other.
A VU meter for each channel can be switched to measure gain reduction
or output level. The sound of the VT-7 is reportedly much like the
other D.W. Fearn products. It combines the musicality of vacuum
tubes with modern design. It features a wide compression range,
and a wide variety of useful settings that are appropriate for a
full range of music recording and speech. It is equally useful for
individual tracks or a complete mix. |

Eventide's
Reverb 2016 recreates the legendary reverb algorithms
of Eventide’s SP2016 – Stereo Room, Room Reverb and High Density
Plate. Every aspect of the original effects has been duplicated
including every detail of the user parameters. While the algorithms
are identical to the originals, the hardware implementation is state-of-the-art,
with features that include a high performance 24 bit DSP, 24 bit
analog audio I/O, digital I/O and MIDI interface. The Reverb 2016
is built to reverb – it’s not a multi-effects box. It was designed
from the perspective that reverb is used nearly always and warrants
a dedicated box with an optimal user interface. The Reverb 2016
user interface is extremely easy-to-use, unbelievably cool and features
dedicated controls for each of the effect’s parameters. The controls
and display are intuitive. The panel controls are optimized for
the studio and for live performance. Up to 99 user presets can be
stored. While recreating the original reverbs is the Reverb 2016’s
raison d’etre, it also features brand new, enhanced versions of
the originals. These “New” reverbs are not a breakthrough: they
have the same basic structure of the originals but with more complex
early reflections, higher density, and finer control of the parameters.
The “New” reverbs represent the natural evolution of the development
work that maxed out the array processing power of the SP2016. |
